Project Overview

Dave and Carol approached us to reimagine their home of 30 years—a dormer bungalow set within a generous rural plot—seeking a more cohesive and comfortable internal environment that better reflects how they live today. While the home benefits from far-reaching countryside views, the interiors had become disconnected from both the landscape and the rhythm of daily family life.

Working in close collaboration with our architecture team, BCAE Architects, we focused on redefining the interior character of the home—prioritising light, atmosphere, and a stronger emotional connection between spaces.

The main living environment was transformed into a calm, open and light-filled interior, where kitchen, dining and seating areas now sit within one continuous space. Rather than feeling segmented, the home now flows with ease, allowing each area to support both everyday living and more social moments. Natural light plays a central role, shifting throughout the day and enhancing the warmth and texture of the chosen materials.

The connection to the garden and wider landscape was reinterpreted from an interior perspective, with key views carefully framed so the outdoors becomes a constant visual presence, softening the boundaries between inside and out and bringing a sense of openness into the heart of the home.

Upstairs, the bedrooms were refined to feel more restful and considered, with a stronger emphasis on proportion, outlook, and a sense of calm. The principal bedroom now feels more connected to its setting, with views that draw the landscape into the interior experience, while additional rooms were designed to feel balanced, quiet, and generous in feel.

The result is an interior-led transformation that prioritises atmosphere over form—creating a home that feels lighter, more connected, and more intuitive to live in, where light, materiality, and outlook define the everyday experience of the spaces.
